allow for users to be anonymous. at times I do not want to send specific response archived under me

don't want to have one username. would like an anonymous username i can use as well.

Aardvark is about real people interacting with real people, which is why we ask everyone to use their real names--just like on Facebook.

That said, we understand that there are personal topics that come up, in which case it might be preferred to ask or answer anonymously. I'd love to hear what other people on the forum think about this topic.

Cater to Programmers and Web Developers

I'd like to see an API for Aardvark so I can easily create widgets for my sites or other sorts of applications to tap Aardvark.

    Status: under review

We're starting talks about building an API, so I'd *love* to hear from anyone who voted for this about how they'd like to use it. Please shoot me an email at alison@aardvarkteam.com Thanks!!

Allow me to use the 'see' command after I answer a question

If someone asks me a question and I can only provide part of the answer I would like to use the 'see' command after I answer with what I know to see the other responses the asker gets.

Great suggestion! This sounds like something we should definitely add.

    make history searchable

currently there is no search facility available in history page..If one has to refer back to a question he had posted in the past, it requires a lot of efforts...leads to enormous wastage of time and frustration...having a search box ot search for past questions would be of great help

    Status: under review

I agree that this would be an awesome feature to have, especially for power users. I'll see if we can get something like this soon.

    make an android app

    Google > Apple

This is definitely something we'll look into as we grow and expand to more platforms.

allow me to see answers to questions where I refer answerers.

    Status: started

It's great to hear suggestions about this, because people are just starting to amp up use of the 'refer' command.

    support openid

Support linking an account to an openid for logging in without password.

As we expand our userbase, this will definitely be something we'll look at doing!

    Support LinkedIn

I would like to be able to synch my LinkedIn social graph with Aardvark and also to have my profile topics and groups transfer over.

    Status: planned

This is definitely something we're planning to do. We're working on other social networks as well. :)

Keep an eye out for announcements.

allow me to answer my own question if I learn the answer later (i.e. create a note on it)

Interesting idea -- basically a way to add a response to yourself, similar to how you can reply to an answerer. I can definitely see it being useful in referring back to something. I'm curious to see if this is something that other users would be interested in using.

interface with Twitter accounts and followers to build network

It would be great if people could tell Aardvark their twitter account, so Vark could find people in my followers/friends network to be connected with. I don't use FaceBook much but I use Twitter and have a big network, so I'm much more likely to get connected via Twitter.

Would you be more interested in importing people you're following, followers, or people who are in both categories?

Provide a better way to rate answers

I get a lot of answers that are in the form of "Well, I'm not really sure but I think it might be ____". That's not a useful answer and I would like there to be a way to mark it as such, something like "You don't really know so there was no need to bother answering".

    There a... more

let me see my friends' areas of expertise

I'm using Safari and I want to know which 18 keywords my friend has input besides the ones I can see -- but I don't see anything to click on or any way to see more information about my friend? More info would be appreciated!

This is a great discussion going on around this topic. We originally chose to not show every topic, because we wanted to use the space to show the most interesting topics.

That said, it completely makes sense that you're curious to know what topics people have listed, and I also totally understand users who don't want to show every topic. We'll discuss this more and hopefully come up with a solution that finds the best balance. Thanks for all the input so far!

add a 'wikipedia' command, like 'google'

Just like you can simply reply with 'google' to send related search results, a 'wikipedia' command would also be useful if you think Wikipedia would have the right answer.

    Status: under review

Thanks - we'll certainly consider this one if we add more commands similar to 'google'.

Get inspired by the badges, credit and honorsystem http://stackoverflow.com/badges/

I think they do an amazing job crediting the most active partisipants, creating moderation, and motivating collaboration!

We're working on finding more ways to recognize people who give great answers, but we've found that most of our users are motivated and happy to help out other users without a credit system. Stackoverflow does do a nice job though.

    More Languages

I like Aardvark, it does what others services can't. But there is one problem, it is only in English. I have a lot of friends that would use Aardvark if it was on Spanish. So if you could support more languages it would be cool. I know its gonna take some (a lot) of time but the work would be regarded.

This is something we are definitely planning on doing once our user base grows more. Thanks for your patience!

Add "quiet hours" so 'vark doesn't IM my phone at 2am.

I've got an IM capable phone (Android G1) and 'vark frequently IM's me in the middle of the night with questions. I'd prefer to just say "Don't IM me between 10pm and 9am" and have that a setting in my account. Additionally, you could restrict by day of week, or arbitrary date ranges... more

More screencasts/videos to show people not on Aardvark what it is.

Most people I know who haven't signed up, don't understand what it is, and think it would be an annoyance to sign up for this service, show them they're wrong by making some cool screencasts or videos.

    Status: started

This is an excellent idea. We're working on creating more videos--it'd be great to hear what kind of things you'd like to see!

Reply to just one of my Google Talk sessions -- use XMPP resources correctly

I tend to have multiple Google Talk sessions running at once across multiple devices -- within Gmail, within Pidgin, and on my phone. Aardvark always blasts all of the messages it sends to all of my devices, even replies to commands that I send to it from one particular session. This is because i... more

Thanks for bringing that up! We're aware of the issue now. What's happening is that we're sending messages to the gtalk network, and it is broadcasting them to all devices -- not what everyone wants it to do. We can help with this if we put in extra logic to keep track of resource ids ourselves or something like that. We'll be looking at adding this refinement soon, but first we are focused on building out a first pass of IM on other networks as well.
