interface with Twitter accounts and followers to build network
It would be great if people could tell Aardvark their twitter account, so Vark could find people in my followers/friends network to be connected with. I don't use FaceBook much but I use Twitter and have a big network, so I'm much more likely to get connected via Twitter.

Would you be more interested in importing people you're following, followers, or people who are in both categories?
Nico
How about polling twitter's public timeline and looking for questions?
Jason
Followers.

I would want just the people I follow should be added here because I know them that's why I follow them. And as far as the followers go, I don't know half of them.

I agree with Chris ... I have my own group which would be awesome to be connectible with the people I am following - to have control with whom to connect it should only be people I am following, means if I stop following them they are out of my network

Best way to go about it would probably be to use users who are in reciprocal relationships (both followers and following). The asymmetrical relationships are seldom useful, more voyeuristic. After all, nobody's going to expect an answer from a celebrity account that they're following, and if they cared to answer a question of someone following them, they would probably be following them back (reciprocal).

Use both on a pick and choose basis, but list those who are following and not followed in a separate section. Also consider twitter's lists as a source of contacts. I keep lists of users who I wish to have easy access too when I'm not specifically interested in their twitter updates. For users who have larger followed/following/listed groups, it may be worthwhile to detect who @ mentions who to bring up most likely candidates first.

I want you to be able to import things I answer on Twitter and visa versa
Noetical
http://friendfeed.com/ has a really easy option to automatically follow your twitter friends. http://friendfeed.com/friends/twitter?username=noetical (insert whichever username you wish.) Something like that would be ideal.
Anne
Both, as we discussed earlier in an user friendly interface.

It would seem like the best approach would be to let people choose when they connect their twitter account.

This could be nice, because Twitter is becoming one of the largest social networking sites on the market. Users would thrive on this feature.

I'd like both those I follow and those who follow me. If someone misbehaves, I can always 'mute' them, or flag them, right?
Tom
The people I follow are far more interesting than my followers. In fact, I probably don't have any followers I'd want answers from (unless I also follow them). Either way, I'd want to hand-select those to add to my 'vark contacts.
John
I agree that the focus should be on who I follow and not those who follow me. The first group I have selected while the other group is completely random.
I would like to see a question posted here cross-posted to Twitter so an expert in the larger universe has a greater chance of seeing the question and maybe offering a reply.

Yep. I'm a heavy twitter user, and barely ever check my facebook page. I'd like to be able to import both categories (followers/followees) but would want to be able to approve all of them case-by-case. (Don't want to bother @hulu, @lileks, etc.)
Chris
I think this is a great idea. just for the people you follow though not your followers.

A good question: Well, the people that I'm following on twitter are the people whom I know or respect, so any advice from them would certainly be welcome.
People who follow me? That's iffy. I don't know them. There may be some very good people in that mix, but it's also possible that there are "spammers" who are following me just to try to get me to look at their profile, follow them back, etc. If they were to be added to my network, I might start getting spammy advice!

As long as there is a network, where people whom I follow are likely to be following some good people (whom I might not follow, but they may follow me), maybe there is no need to consider people whom I don't follow.
If I had the opportunity to approve/disapprove people who follow me (but whom I don't follow) on a case-by-case basis, then maybe this could work. I might look at their twitter profile briefly and see if they seem legitimate (somebody I might eventually follow, or whom I might trust for a recommendation) and approve them, or look at their profile and decide that they are not the kind of person I would care to trust.
A long answer -- hopefully that is useful!

This is kind of a duplicate of another suggestion. Like location-specific tagging, this is a recurring theme. I'm like Dan, I'm much more of a Twitter user than a Facebook user. Twitter and Vark seem to have more overlap for me than do Vark and FB. The question shouldn't be if, but how to integrate the two.
