allow me to answer my own question if I learn the answer later (i.e. create a note on it)

Interesting idea -- basically a way to add a response to yourself, similar to how you can reply to an answerer. I can definitely see it being useful in referring back to something. I'm curious to see if this is something that other users would be interested in using.

It's a great idea, i've entered in the feedback section to write it, but i found that :) . Please, apply it.

  2. That is a good idea, but i have never tried that .Hope that it will be useful .

yup.. mostly when i ask a question on aardvark and if I find the answer elsewhere (google), it would be a good idea to answer your own question.!

Beneficial to others, when they see the QA.

  4. Would it be helpful for Aardvark or its users? Do Aardvark or other users improve from the answers to questions? If so, then Aardvark should not put restrictions on the sources of good answers.

  5. Yeah! I think that would be awesome! Great idea. Thanks! :]

I think this is a very useful idea not only for the person asking the question to refer to it later (if she has a memory like mine) but also for others with similar problems. Today I asked a question about Google Friend Connect not displaying on my wordpress blog www.webinarreviews.org. I did not receive any answers but was able to find a solution through my own research. I would like the answer to be available in a place for my own future blogs, just in case I face the same problem. I also think other... more

I have needed this several times. I ask questions, and continue research online and find the answer myself.

This is definitely a good idea. I've asked a question, then found the answer myself a couple hours later. When I went to document the answer, my only option was to cancel the question. That doesn't help anybody!

  9. I like the idea, but I can see it being misused by people asking their own questions in order to promote a service or product that "answers" their question.

  10. This is a really good idea. I would use it.

    Great, i would use it

Usually if i don't get an answer to a question, i end up finding the answer another way through googling, or something like that. So this would definitely be a feature i would use!

This is a little old, but while I like the idea of open-ending the question-answer interaction, there's something—well, beautiful—about Aardvark's simplicity. If there were a way to abstract this kind of protracted knowledge sharing as another interaction layer, which doesn't directly change the current interaction model, it would allow Aardvark to continue what's very successful now but allow for greater involvement for whomever wants it. Building the community takes the success of simplicity as an ou... more

Just one more vote, I would definitely use this.

  15. I see this being very useful if the "Google influence" on Aardvark moves it to a more searchable collective knowledge base (for users who choose to make their responses public).

  16. This is a great idea, but I see someone taking advantage of this option and asking questions he/she already knows the answer to in order to look like a real contributor instead of going to knol and sharing his/her knowledge there. I would like this option either way.

I don't know if answered questions are already searchable, but I found this very useful for (the now retired) Google Answers. So answering your own question for posterity is kind of tied to it being easily found by people asking the question again.

I think this is a great idea :) Almost like a "beat the 'vark" challenge.

  19. When I clicked on my History, to iew answers I had seen, but had gotten disconnected before I could type busy, I was able to click "I'd like to know, too" which will allow me to see when they get an answer- If I find an answer in the meantime, I can go back and tell them. It would be helpful if I could answer my own question for others who have done the same. I also think a button for "I'd like to know, too" next to "busy" and "refer" would be helpful.

  20. This is a great way to allow avid users to increase the general knowledge base among other interested users.
