Allow multiple people answer my question before emailing

Sometimes the first person to answer might not have the best answer. I'd like to leave my question posted for two or three people to answer before I receive an email saying it's been answered.

While Aardvark does keep looking for another person to answer even after we send you the first answer, this would be a bit tricky to implement. If we don't find a second response, we don't want to make you wait forever for the first answer. That said, I understand that people don't want to receive millions of emails. I'd love to hear any ideas you have on balancing this.

  1. Many forums with "notify me when there is a reply" works that you get only one notification after the first reply. But once you go in and view the topic, if another answer comes later, you will get a new notification. I.e. the "notify me" flag gets reset when you visit one of your questions.

  2. There should be an option under account settings that allows you to select if you want to receive all the answers separately or receive one batch email because different people prefer different methods.

How about an option when, after getting an asnwer, you can click: "I want to look for another answer"?
The question gets resubmitted as an open question and you can do that for as long as you want to get as many answers as you want but also people answering can see previous answers.

I agree with Thomas. That sounds great

When we ask a question, we perhaps should be able to set a optional time limit on it ?
If you set this, you get an email at the end with all the response's.
If you dont its "as soon as possible"

This would also work better when you actualy want a question to be answered over a long period (a week) because you know its obscure/complex and might take awhile.
