I use the IM bot for Windows Live Messenger and I run Pidgin for Windows. Pidgin (and Microsoft's official client) support both the "away" status and an "inactive" feature that allows you to be marked as aways based on the computers' detection of your presence (idle). The bot, however, doesn't seem to understand really well that I'm away. Even though you can see that as good, as for I'll get questions and answers to check when I'm back, it also means I'm missing what I didn't need to as I'm not there. I believe that an option to "not receive IM messages when inactive or away" is a nice addition.
