a command to check a question status in gmail

    add a simple command
(which i thought already exists, until one of the support employs told me there isnt such thing)
to the gmail chat, or to just plain email function (reply to a message) which will then retrieve a question status and/or previous answers or replies(conversations) with the peop... more

We have a partial version of this. Currently you can type 'update' into your IM window to ask Aardvark the status of your question, but we can certainly look at building this out more to send you any past answers and allow you to use it via email.

    Wrocław vs Wroclaw

The name of the city I live in is 'Wrocław' but only 'Wroclaw' is an allowed city name

I apologize for the issue! I'll see if we can fix this.

add a "links are ok" box when asking a question

Sometimes when people answer questions they just post a link, but what if you're using a mobile phone and a link doesn't work very well?

It would be cool to have a check box when you create a question that said something like "links are ok" which gives the signal to a person that answ... more

This is a little tricky since people use many different platforms to ask questions on Aardvark (IM, email, Twitter, iPhone...). We can certainly look into it, but the best solution currently is probably to include this information in your question.

Replace Aardvark's commands by buttons in GTalk

This is another thing we can certainly look into as we integrate more with Google :)

    Clarify settings for contacting users

I think they settings page needs to be redesigned so that it is clearer to a user how aardvark interacts with external services such as facebook/aim/email.

I'd like to be more easily tell what communication priorities are being made. For example, if I'm signed on AIM does that mean I won't be g... more

I think you're right that explaining this better and giving users more control would definitely help. Currently, Aardvark defaults to IM, unless you're marked as busy/idle or are in the middle of a conversation when Aardvark wants to send you a message. In that case, you'll receive an email.

I'm passing your comments along to the team.

on the iphone app's "answer" tab, show only questions related to topics at first

In the iPhone App, the Answer tab should display only questions related to your topics at first, and then give the option to see all open questions, just like the website.

Thanks - we'll definitely look at matching up the iPhone app with the web experience.

Add a "Buzz This" feature for conversations (Just like how you can share to Facebook and Twitter)

Sounds like a great way to share! I'll make sure the team looks at this.

Change the color of the # of answers if I get one I haven't responded to yet.

    I like this idea!

correctly handle replies sent long after the question was put by IM

It seems Aardvark sometimes can't handle replies to questions sent by IM, at least on Gmail (e.g if I'm away from the computer, and when I get back I there's the "sorry, I missed you" message after the question; the commands seem to work ("Thanks" I've sent that to John"... more

    Status: under review

I apologize for the issue! I'll have our engineers look into the problem. In the meantime, you can also access any conversation online at http://vark.com/history

    Forward to secondary mail

I would like to forward the replies to the questions to the secondary email Ids .That should be like this:
"Questions I have seen" to a secondary mail, Questions to answer to another email,
answers which I get to third mail.I want to set this manually in the settings page.

We want to make using Aardvark as convenient as possible for you, so we can definitely look at improving these settings!

    Always receive email alerts

(This is probably duplicate. But I couldn't find it, so...)

I need to always get alerts on my e-mail, regardless of any other vark's alert attempt!

I got iPhone and IM alerts configured and I think I'm losing track when people reply to me anywhere in a conversation - either on ask or answer modes.

We want to make sure that Aardvark is as easy to use for you as possible so we can definitely look at improving these contact settings!

Does Aardvark send to my network? I just logged on and it shows my network, but they won't kno

I don't want my friends seeing some of my questions. Seems lame to be using my network as the primary source to get questions answered when I can contact these people myself. I think I'll go to Yahoo Answers where I can be anonymous.

Aardvark uses your network to help find people who are connected to you to answer your questions, but this doesn't mean that it will be sending all your questions to all your friends.

When you send a question to Aardvark, it first looks for people in your network who might be able to answer. This includes friends, friends-of-friends and people with common group affiliations. If one of these people can't answer, it then looks to the broader Aardvark community. There is currently a discussion about anonymous asking here: http://community.vark.com/pages/18354-general/suggestions/231239-allow-for-users-to-be-anonymous-at-times-i-do-not-want-to-send-specific-response-archived-under-me?ref=title

If you have highly personal questions, Aardvark may not be the best service for these at this point in time. That said, by using your social network, Aardvark can help you find answers from people who are similar to you to help you get a more personalized answer.

Let me know if you have any questions about this!

Add a way to create a bug report in Aardvark.

I think it would be great to add a way for a user to create bug reports in Aardvark, using something like Google Code. That way if we ever notice a problem, it's as simple as filing a bug report, that way admin doesn't have to wade through emails and we can have a set way to file bug reports.

    G... more

Glad you found the link to htto://vark.com/bugs but we can also certainly look into making bug reports more visible and communal!

    buy the aardvark.com domain

i'm guessing cost is the major barrier to implementing this idea but it is crucial! you should buy it as soon as you can afford it.

We have looked into this thoroughly, but unfortunately the owner of the domain doesn't want to sell it at the moment. Perhaps we'll be able to work something out in the future...

Getting subsequent answers only in Gtalk window, now by email.

I don't like getting the second, third, and so on answers by email. I prefer receiving them all and interacting with Aardvark only in my Gtalk window.

Are you always getting second and third answers by email? If you're in the middle of a conversation with the first answerer, Aardvark should be emailing you other responses, but if you're not already engaged, they should also be going to you chat window. Let me know and I'd love to help improve this experience for you.

    Reloaded Answerable Question

I accidentally clicked the "Answer" button (next to "Ask") twice and I saw a question I knew the answer to. However, but the time I got to it, the page had already reloaded. If I could somehow get back to that question, that would be grand!!

You'll be able to do this soon with a new history tab we're working on :)

    amazon links

i just tried to answer a question, and aardvark forced me to click on a link to amazon (unrelated product) before forwarding the response. this is obnoxious & spammy.

Thanks for the feedback on this and I apologize for the negative experience! We're just beginning to experiment with ways to include links that users would find helpful, but it's obviously still in the early stages. This feedback is very helpful, and you should see this improving immensely in the future. Thanks for your patience!

Add question priority based on the user

Add special priorities to questions. For example, if someone answered 300 questions, and then asked one, their question should be given priority over others, and should be sent to more people faster. This would create an incentive for people to answer questions, and reward people who answer ton... more

Thanks for the feedback! It makes sense that you'd want something to motivate people to answer questions. Currently though, we're finding that most people enjoy answering questions and we're able to send all questions out virtually immediately, so this hasn't become a necessary incentive. If we have issues with this is the future, we'll certainly consider your idea.
